The realisation that something needs to change, or that something isn’t working usually occurs during our quiet moments: On the commute home from a rough day at work; when cooling down after an argument with a loved one; in the aftermath of a life-changing event… We can be at a train station full of fellow commuters, or alone at home but either way, there is a point at which whatever is happening around us seems to fade to black and we become deeply engrossed in our thoughts, where we reach conclusions such as:‘ This isn’t right’, ‘ I can’t do this anymore’ and ‘I have to make a change’.
These moments are important because they are powerful. These are the moments at which we find ourselves on the precipice of change, and possibly where our will is at its strongest. But sometimes the moment is fleeting. The demands of life, the enormity of the task at hand, or the numerous blocks that seem impossible to overcome send us crashing right back to our current reality, where familiarity and perceived safety seem far more manageable.
Whether or not you are willing and/or able to make the necessary changes you are looking for right now, the quiet moments are still important. These moments give us time to think, process, evaluate, re-evaluate, learn and heal.
To help with this process, Quiet Moments as it pertains to this blog, is a collection of thoughts, observations and experiences taken from my own quiet moments that may help you on your own path to personal development. I am by no means an expert on these matters because I am navigating life and its challenges just like everyone else, but I have found that some of the best information, advice and contributions to my own development have come from listening to the ideas and experiences of others, so think of this as my way of ‘paying it forward’.
